Job Description:

Make the world a better place by working with the nonprofit community to improve lives.

Innovative thinking and cutting-edge breakthroughs have made us the leading provider of software solutions to nonprofit organizations around the globe. These solutions help nonprofit organizations maximize fundraising and manage their day-to-day operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to work minutes from the beach while mastering your skills. Blackbaud's track record of stability and growth for more than two decades means talented people with enthusiastic, team-oriented attitudes have the opportunity to advance.

As a Software Engineer  I:

  • Complete smaller development coding tasks assigned by management or senior developers, ensuring all code is written and functioning according to specifications.
  • Become knowledgeable of product functionality through product exploration, self-study of user manuals, on-line documentation, help files, and computer based training.
  • Gain an understanding of VB.net and Blackbaud's coding standards by studying existing code, help files and manuals.
  • Ensure work is meeting expectations of team by getting all code reviewed by a designated senior developer.
  • Develop an understanding of SQL, MS Reporting Services, and third-party controls through existing examples, self-study, and user manuals.
  • Become familiar with the organization of the company, as well as the product life cycle, by studying the documents available on internal web sites.

Experience and Skills:

Blackbaud will consider candidates who have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience through a co-op or internship with any .NET language
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (Any experience with SQL Server 2008 is a great bonus)
  • Experience making positive contributions in a team environment
  • A diligent work ethic and the discipline to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate solutions

About Blackbaud:

Blackbaud has most of the normal perks that mid-sized software companies tend to have: an onsite gym, a company cafeteria, a casual dress code, good benefits, and more. But that's not the main draw for most who come to work here. Employees say they love working here because they get a chance to develop state-of-the-art software technology while also helping nonprofits. They like the idea that our products are used to help make the world a better place.

Location does matter

Perhaps more of a perk than a main draw is our great location. Blackbaud is headquartered on Charleston, South Carolina's Daniel Island, surrounded by fertile saltwater marsh teeming with wildlife. Add to that the fact that historic downtown Charleston and some of the best beaches on the East Coast are mere minutes away, and you've got a pretty scenic place to work. We also have offices in Boston, Indianapolis, London, Toronto, and Sydney.

Currently, Blackbaud does not sponsor candidates for the purpose of obtaining an H-1B visa.
